NEW TRENDS IN GARDENINGS

Hi,

I am starting a new side of mine that is restless without sharing the little knowledge that I have. Hoping that my little effort will help someone to produce more Oxygen for human being.

GARDENING WITH INNOVATIONS

Conventional gardening in well known term to all. Many of us has spared a small or large place for a garden or lawn in our sweet homes. But humans are restless without jumping into new challenges in their lives. How our restless souls live without experimenting in all ways of life? Gardening is also a hobby that is expanding its barriers. It is not limited in lawns, pots or rows. Around the world people are contributing to discover new ways of their aesthetic senses by introducing innovating ideas in this field.

These new, trendy and unique ideas have already gained much popularity amongst all. People are not only adapting these techniques but also give them a new way by molding them according to their native environment and resources. In the area where it snows heavily, balcony or indoor gardening is a great idea. By small changes, we can grow cactus in any weather and get beautiful flower out of them. A cold climate fruit is now easy to ripe even in hot areas; all you need is to maintain the temperature according to the requirement of the plant.

Once, open areas and vast field were necessary to grow crops, but now crops are easy to grow at skyscrapers. This is all happening with research and dedication. Also it is a requirement of time as population is growing and their requirement of food is also at the peak. We are facing decrease in fields as concrete buildings are replacing them to accommodate the growing population. At this crucial time, we have take part and settle in new ways of gardening and growing fields.

In kitchen gardening, we have solution of this shortage at house level. You can grow your own vegetables, herbs, fruits and flowers in your home. People with large accommodation can grow this all for 5-10 houses and earn a good amount in return. Although you need not this thing still this amount can be paid for more seeds, tools, modern equipments, you can hire a new worker or to purchase an area for further cultivations. But first thing is organic cultivation at home level.

In last many years, gardening styles have turned into trendy and unique. As we have already mentioned that people are choosing them according to their comfort and house theme. They look not only fabulous but give meaning to your house as well. Here we are going to share some of these styles of gardening. In these styles, you can grow ornamental, decorative, floral or fruitful plants. We can also turn and twist with your own new ideas and provide others a new way of gardening.

1-   BALCONY/TERRACE GARDEN

Our population is growing and big cities have no more land to give all individual a personal piece of land. This leads people to live in the apartments of high buildings. Here, they have all facilities of life i.e. security, privacy, play area, underground parking etc. But they cannot have an individual lawn in their house; they can only enjoy their time in nearby park. For this, they have to walk a long way or take out their car from underground parking for a ride towards a nearest public park.

A problem leads with solution, so the balcony/terrace gardening is the best thing to have in your home. Generally all apartments have a small or large terrace or balcony in it for fresh air flow. Fresh air and sunshine is the basic need for all plants and it is available in your balcony. So, we should not waste this precious place in our apartment. Do not waste your time for long planning. Place at least one or two plants for self motivation and increase it gradually.

In urban cities, we have one huge problem i.e. pollution that is making our lives miserable. Terrace garden can help you in this situation. By placing there some air purifying plants you can have some fresh oxygen production units that can provide you small amount of relief. There are a lot of air-purifying plants like, snake plant, English Ivy, Peace lily, orchid, arrowhead vine etc. Choose any one of them or select one according to your choice. There benefit is priceless.

For a relaxing time, you can place as many plants in your terrace or balcony, according to the available space. Now, place one or two relaxing chair near them and enjoy the sip of tea or coffee in the evening. This place in not only to put some pots, you can decorate few beautiful frames with your favorite scenes or paintings in them. Ask you electrician to lay an extra wire for few pointed light at your plants or paintings for evening display.

Artificial grass is very economical to ornament your terrace/balcony garden. It is available in varieties. Purchase according to your floor size and it will definitely leave no regrets for not having a house at ground floor. This will give a full feel of a garden where you can rest or cater your friend in a relaxing atmosphere. This green object will obviously be a change to look in early mornings and even in rains.

Hanging lights and pots may be a good addition to your terrace garden to enhance its beauty and grace.  These hanging items are very economical when prepared at home with old and reusable material like plastic bottle or empty jars. You can cut them in order to shape them in a light cover/shade or a hanging pot. Additionally, you have an option to paint it according to your taste. Vines also portray themselves elegant at the edges of your terrace/balcony garden. Their fall of lush green stems and leaves attract everyone when swing in soft breeze. Vines are very easy to grow even in jars, pots or containers. Some of them are evergreen and less manageable. So, they enhance the charm of balcony and beautify the outer side of your terrace/balcony.

2-    INDOOR GARDEN

Indoor plantation is not new to all but it is always in. Many of us have various types of plants available inside our houses. Indoor plants are not only a rich source to purifying your indoor air but also they provide liveliness inside the house. There is no hard work to start indoor garden. We help you through some tips that will surely help you to begin it at home. Here are these useful tips for green plants inside your home.

TIPS

  • Always select the category of plants that are good to survive inside. You can ask any gardener at your nearest nursery.
  • Place the plants at a place where they can get some fresh air or a little sunshine through glass.
  • Entrance is excellent to place some of your favorite indoor plants. They can easily get enough air and sunshine when someone opens the door to go through.
  • Indoor plants do not require much of water; they can survive with small quantity of water, so avoid overwatering.
  • Some of plants are happy with artificial/electric lights and air of electric fan. Therefore, it is also suggested to give them both luxuries every day.
  •  There are few types of plants that can survive inside the house but they require periodically natural light. You can place them after 10-15 days in partial sunshine for a period of 1-2 hours. This small effort could be as a treat for your indoor plant.
  • Whenever, you need to go outstation for some days, cover your plants with large polythene bags. Place some sticks to avoid direct touch to leaves of plants with this wrap. Give it water just before leaving your house. Do not scatter any kind of fertilizer at this type; postpone it until you complete your vacations.
  • Always remove dead or weak leaves in order to keep rest of plant healthy.
  • Keep your planter clean.
  • Place coir sticks to allow the indoor plants and vines to creep up safely.
  • Do not spray water at the leaves of indoor plants. Just clean them with smooth cotton cloth.

Indoor gardening is not limited to walkways; you can also place some small pots at kitchen window where you can grow different kind of herbs or succulents. Bedroom, baths and stairs are also good places to keep indoor plants. Stair wall shows its worth when you hang vertically few glass pots/bottles with a cutting of any indoor plant in them. Among the frames of your memorable moments it looks awesome. Sometime, it takes you back to the atmosphere where you spend your leisure time.

3-   ROOF TOP GARDENING

Roof top gardens are very trendy when they are managed in a stylish way. Every person has his individuality and one can portray it through one’s lifestyle. You can decorate your roof with any type of plant. Also there is an option of some specific plants that are close to your heart. You can fill a life to your boring roof top with the swings of leaves and bloom of flowers. It could be an invitation to the birds to come and sing their songs.

Roof top is generally an area that is totally ignored for any useful activities. There is plenty of sunlight and open air throughout the day that is a necessity for plants. They grow well and give maximum yield in such ideal atmosphere. They can enjoy a rainy bath without any hurdle.  I have mentioned about the benefits of roof top gardening in my book mentioned above. Why not you think of a bamboo net fence at the corners of your roof? Decide a place to fix it to raise one or two beautiful floral vines like bogan velliea, morning glory or anyone you like. Now, do a laborious work and bring few pots upstairs and fill them with potting soil. Next step is sowing the seeds or seedlings in them and one time care on daily basis. They are ready to spread their beauty all around the roof. There are few that do not like harshness of weather; you can protect them with gardening net that are easily available in your nearest nursery. These nets are economical and long lasting.

Another way of protection is fiber sheets. These are also an affordable just because they last for many years. Fiber sheets not only give shade and protection to your plants but they are also good to provide shade to your sitting arrangements in rainy seasons. Add few lights in this area and give it a grace. You can enjoy there a meal or mug of frothy coffee with delicious cheesy sandwiches. Be a pioneer in your vicinity and neighbors will come to you for useful tips and suggestion to follow.

4-   SHELF GARDENING

Shelf gardening is a solution to less space. You can place as many planters, pots or containers at the shelves according to the available space. These shelves may be attached to walls or standing vertically by the wall. Further, you can make as many rows of shelves as you desire. Always select a material that can bear severity of weather. If you are choosing wooden or metallic material then do not forget to coat it with water resistant material. Yearly maintenance and recoating is also advised as they fade out due to changes in weather.

Shelves are easy to place anywhere, it could be a lobby, garage, compound, back area, roof top or indoors. They are ideal to grow herbs outside the kitchen. There are no particular pattern for shelf gardening. It is all up to your mood and liking. Here, I am suggesting some of the ideas available at different sites. 5-    HANGING GARDEN

Idea of hanging and floating garden is quite amazing. It itself seems amazing when you try one at your home. Ideally, they are set up in glass bottle or containers with a thread to hang them. But now innovative minds have suggested various styles of pots to revamp your hanging garden. There is plastic, bamboo, grass and straw weaved baskets available in the market. You can also make a unique planter with the help of scrap. A disposable bottle is perfect to it. Do it yourself at home with following procedure.

THINGS REQUIRED

An empty bottle, cutter, strong thread, sharp nail to make holes, potting soil

  • Take an empty bottle preferably a large one
  • Clean it thoroughly
  • From bottle leave ¼ space and cut it with sharp cutter
  • Keep the cap intact and discard the bottom part
  • Make three holes at the edges to place threads in them
  • Fill it with potting soil
  • Select a plant to sow
  • Tie the threads to hang
  • Hang it at a rod or a screw in the ceiling.

6-    WALL MOUNTING/VERTICAL GARDENING

Another Interesting and beautiful way to decorate the walls, garage, entrance and terrace is Vertical Gardening. It all requires same material and innovative ideas out of our minds. First we need to identify the area of our house to beautify and then follow our desire. Believe me all is done.

What makes it different is the way to present and the choice of plants. Mostly, we prefer to decorate such areas with small veins and decorative and small plants. Succulents, Mushrooms and Cactus are also a good choice to display in such areas.
